Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch: Gadget of the week

My new gadget love is the Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Fun Small Tablet.  I've used Wacom tablets for years and absolutely love them.  The Bamboo Pen and Touch continues the love affair. The Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch supports multitouch, which adds many of the familiar gestures you're used to from the iPhone or iPod touch, such as rotate and stretch/pinch to zoom out/in. It has a larger area than the track pad that comes with the MacBook pro.

The Pen gives greater control when working in Photoshop or other graphics programs.  Both Mac OS X and Windows 7 can use it as "ink," which is perfect for marking up a PDF or other document for review.  Both OS X and Windows 7 also include handwriting recognition software.

While those benefits are great, the biggest cool factor is the ergonomics of it.  It's so much more comfortable than using either a track pad or mouse. Its small size is just right for my laptop bag, and it will be a must have.  There's a great loop for keeping the pen with the tablet.  Like all Wacom tablets, it doesn't require batters and connects via USB.

The Bamboo Pen and Touch retails for $99 and works with both Mac and Window computers.  Adobe PhotoShop Essentials is also bundled with the tablet.
